Known for its irreverent approach, Gufram is part of the Italian Radical Design movement, which questions the boundaries between functionality and artistic expression.
Among its most iconic creations is the Cactus, designed in 1972 by the duo Drocco and Mello. Made of hand-painted polyurethane, the Cactus is a sculptural coat rack that subverts the idea of a utilitarian object by transforming it into a piece of pop art. With its playful form and vibrant colours, it has become a symbol of postmodern design and is featured in major museum collections, including the MoMA in New York.
Another milestone in Gufram’s catalogue is the famous Bocca sofa, created in 1970 by Studio 65. Inspired by the sensual lips of Marilyn Monroe and the surrealist work of Salvador Dalí, this bright red mouth-shaped sofa blends eroticism and function. With its bold aesthetic, the Bocca has transcended its role as furniture to become a cultural icon, appearing in films, fashion editorials, and contemporary art collections.
With its irreverent spirit and artistic approach, Gufram continues to challenge the standards of traditional design.
